American flag marking flags lined along sidewalk in Neligh, Nebraska for Flag Day

It was in 2015 that Gov. Pete Ricketts officially named Neligh the flag capital of Nebraska. It is a title that the Neligh community takes pride in, and it is evident in how we celebrate Flag Day every year.

Ever since Neligh became the flag capital of Nebraska, volunteers in the community and staff from Blackburn Manufacturing have come together to set up American flags all over town on Flag Day. Flags can even be seen lined up along Highway 275 which runs right through the heart of Neligh.

Blackburn Manufacturing Honors Flag Day Tradition

Flag Day is truly special to us here at Blackburn Manufacturing. Putting up American flags on June 14th is a tradition that not only celebrates the date in 1777 when the United States approved the design for the first American flag, but it is a tradition that honors this great country and all who have served the red, white and blue throughout its history. Though we are a company that manufactures marking flags and not the 3’x5’ American flags, we are proud to be a part of this national holiday tradition and to be able to call the flag capital of Nebraska our home.

Another part of our tradition here at Blackburn Manufacturing is our Flag Day scholarship. Since 2015, we have given out over $5,000 in scholarships to local graduates, and we plan to keep that tradition going strong. To win the scholarship, applicants have to write an essay explaining what the American flag means to them.

Nebraska is a state that takes great pride in American patriotism, and Blackburn Flag is a Nebraska made company that takes the utmost pride in the same. If you’re in need of marking flags, or other printed materials, visit our website to see everything we have to offer.
